I've been gone awhile due to a bazillion different factors. Going back to work knocked me off my feet for a couple of weeks. So life was pretty much a series of sleeping and sleepwalking until I got back in the groove. Another thing is that my camera wasn't working (sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't and there's really no reason for either that I can tell), so the last couple of trips I took didn't result in anything worth posting.
Last week my in-laws came down and stayed with us. We had a lovely time picking apples out at Oak Glen and just spending time with them out in the yard. After they left, we had a day to ourselves, and then we headed up to San Luis Obispo. There, we hung out with Tom's parents, his brother and his brother's girlfriend. These are pretty amazing and fun people and we stayed at this beautiful little bed and breakfast called Petit Soleil.
I'll be posting some of the highlights from our weekend up the coast in a few days (after I get through the 80 deviations you've all put up while I've been away), but a few of the best parts weren't captured on film or card. We'd been waiting for this family trip to tell everybody that we're expecting a baby in the spring. They are thrilled and we're over the moon. I must say I'm a bit shocked and feeling a little old, which 36 has never seemed to me. But that's probably normal, considering we have a 14 year old son already. He's taller than me and has a mustache, and we're having a baby. Crazy!
The upside (along with the baby itself) is that I feel great and am loving being pregnant. No throwing up at all (major nausea though), whereas with Corey I threw up all day and wherever I happened to be... including between a couple of expensive cars in a parking lot.
So, life is good on my end, and I hope it is with you all, too.
Love and happiness,
Shan +1 :+)

Crossed Fingers Makes Typing Difficult
So last time I posted a journal, it was all about how I was going to be sticking around. Twenty-three months later, here I am again. This time I will make no grand pronouncements, only say that I am hopeful I'll have a few things now and then to share.
The camera and I are finally beginning to grow on one another. It helps that the computer is cooperating. It's also good that I finally got to commune with nature recently... brief, but well-loved it was.
Ugh!
Well, here it is. In less than an hour I have to return to work. Summer shouldn't be over yet, but my schools are starting up next week and I've got to get everything set up and ready for them. I kicked off summer with a phenomenal camping trip in San Diego with my pal Jill, so how did I end it? Helping Corey with schoolwork and trying to take a nap. But one of the people who will be giving work to my students called my cell phone and interrupted my nap... and for what? To tell me that he won't be ready for a couple of months. Thanks Dude! Next time call my office.
Yep, cranky and tired and going to face the world without coffee, ha!
Hitting the Road
Hooray!
We were supposed to go camping with my brother and his family this past weekend, but it got canceled a few weeks ago because of his job. Friday night I got a call from my niece saying that they were finally going to make it, and could we join them. Uh, yes! The only problem is that my camera is acting up, so who knows if I'll be able to get any great shots or not. My cell phone camera usually works in a pinch, but it's *obviously* not how I want to do it.
Hope you all have a fabulous week. I'll see you when I get back.
Love and happiness,

Nevermind
So I figured out that there were two problems with my new avatar. One, it actually *was* showing up, but my browser wasn't showing the most current version (odd that it would update some parts and not others, but whatver). And two, man!, that photo doesn't shrink well. I looked all pixelated and squishy, so I put Manzanar back up. Ya'll can thank me later, ha!
